8.5. Copy & Paste in the Model Editor

8.5.1. Overview

The functions Copy and Paste can make working with Cubetto Toolset much easier. But as the architecture of a modeling tool is much more complex, than e.g. the architecture of a graphic program, some special features for the work with these functions should be noticed.

The information below helps you to make your work with the tool as efficient as possible.

8.5.2. Paste

E³-Elements, which you have copied in the Model Editor, you can paste within the Model Editor again into your configuration. On this occasion the following elements are considered:

Presentation Objects (graphically shown Model Elements)

In the open presentation exact copies of the elements are created. At the same time vorgelagerte objects are set up new, so that a change on the copy does not have an effect on the copied original.

Please note that pasting is only possible within the same modeling language and between presentation of the same type.

Presentations

If you have copied a whole presentation, all presentation objects included in it, are pasted into the opened presentation. The rules above apply here, too.

Next to the Simple Paste, there is the possibility in the Model Editor to create objects as reference. The functioning is similar to the proceeding described above, but the vorgelagerten objects of a Presentation Object (PO) are not copied. Instead of this the copy of the PO refers to the objects of the original. As a result a second diagram of one and the same object exists.
